RESERVE NOW!

WINE 101 SEMINAR (Beginning Wed, Apr 23, 6 & 7 pm) -- Want to learn more about wine?  Have we got the seminar for you!  Join us for Wine 101, a two-part series that will turn you into a pro on understanding wine essentials in just 2 short weeks!  Offered in two parts, the series walks you through how to taste and evaluate wine, along with a familiarity with the world's most important grape varieties and wine regions.  Reserve now to join us for either or both parts:

  • Part 1:  The Elements of Wine (Wed, April 23 at 6 & 7 pm and Sat, April 26 at 1 pm) -- The first session of the series offers an in-depth exploration of the elements of red and white wines, how they fit together, how to taste and evaluate wine, and how you can use these elements to judge quality, complexity, balance, and age-worthiness.  Of course, you'll sample a range of wines that illustrate the elements of sweetness vs. fruitiness, tannins, alcohol, acidity, and more!  Not necessarily for beginners (but a great way to start), this fascinating session is for anyone who wants to have a better understanding of what they're tasting.
  • Part 2:  Top Grape Varieties & Regions (Wed, Apr 30 at 6 & 7 pm and Sat, May 3 at 1 pm)  --  What grape varieties should you really know to be conversant in wine and where do the world's most important wines come from?  This session explores the most important red and white grape varieties, their unique personalities and characteristics, and which regions produce the best examples of wine made from each variety, all illustrated through a guided wine tasting.

As usual, these special in-store seminars are FREE but space is limited so reservations are required.  You may reserve for the 6 pm, 7 pm, or Saturday session of either or both seminars.  To reserve, just give us a call at 703-671-8700 (no email reservations please!).

STREET NAME CHANGE

PLEASE NOTE:   Effective Sunday, July 1, 2007 our address will change, but we're not moving!  Along with everyone else in Shirlington Village, our address will change from South 28th Street to Campbell Avenue.   The new street name commemorates the life and contributions of Edmund and Elizabeth Campbell to the Arlington Community.  The Campbells were active in Arlington government, promoted important improvements in education, and Mrs. Campbell also founded Arlington's public television station, WETA. Effective July 1, the name change will apply to South 28th Street in Shirlington Village (all of the numbers of which will remain the same, so we will become 4056 Campbell Avenue), as well as to South Stafford Street (the numbers of which will change).

PARKING RELIEF

Although parking in Shirlington can look like a challenge, there's still plenty of FREE parking available in the garage located immediately behind our store!  Despite all the "reserved" signs in the garage, Shirlington customers may park anywhere in that garage after 6 pm on weekdays and anytime on weekends.  With 8 levels of parking, there's always plenty of space!

FREE parking is also available in the new garage located immediately to the right of Signature Theatre and the new library.  This garage is open to Shirlington customers all day, everyday.  The garage is extremely convenient, well-lit, and just a very short walk from our store.  Although some spaces on the first level are reserved for the library, there is plenty of additional space on the upper levels.  Due to the weekday daytime restrictions in the garage behind our store, this new garage next to the library is your best option on weekdays during the daytime.
